What a long day
Today was so freakin long.
It began with me having to say goodbye to Brian. I definately was not prepared for all the emotions. It was so hard to say goodbye, even though it's just temporary, I miss him terribly already. I seriously don't know how my mom has done it all these years with my dad being military and all. But I know I can stay busy and hopefully the time will go by fast.
I picked up one last shift at Firebirds and had to say goodbye to Jess, that sucked too. But she is going to come visit me in NY so it won't be too long til I see her again.
Then i drove to my parents house...a drive that takes 1.5 hours, tops, but thanks to an accident that closed down the interstate took me almost 4 hours. So now I'm cranky and my back hurts but its ok....cuz this time tomorrow I will be in NYC.
Only a week left....
It's really happening.
In one week I will be in the city. I went up on Tuesday and had my interview at ESPN Zone in Times Square--I definatley got hired on the spot. I start next week! I should make bank and the people there seem pretty cool.
I'm starting to get sad though--I don't want to leave Richmond behind. I wish I could pack it up and take it with me. I don't know how I will get through 2 months without seeing Brian, 2 months with no scrapbooking craziness with Jess and April, 2 months without Firebirds. I won't get to go to the beach this summer. I'm gonna miss the clean(ish) air and the quietness of living in the West End. Richmond sucks, but the people here make it bearable. I just hope I can find some crazy and fun people in New York.
Don't worry, I'm with the band
Last night was freakin amazing.
As one of my birthday presents, my parents got me a ticket to see my favorite band,
The All American Rejects, in concert at ODU. Headlining the tour was Fall Out Boy, another totally kick ass band. I took my friend Jackie with me downto the concert.
Well, doors opened at 5:30, so we got there about 3:30 to wait in line since it was general admission. We weren't even the first ones! We were about 20 people back. But one of the local radio stations was out doing music and giveaways to keep us entertained, so that was cool.
So the DJ from the radio station comes over to the crowd with a huge megaphone and announces that they are doing giveaways if you have "The Zone" (the radio station's name) somewhere on you. One of the giveaways was: backstage passes to have dinner, an acoustic performance, and a photoshoot with the All American Rejects.
So he yells into the crowd: "First one that can show me an ID saying it's their birthday today wins." Not my birthday, so I keep listening. "First one that can show me a quarter dated 1979" Nope, not here either.
About 15 minutes later they start the giveaway up again.
"First person who shows me an object with an American Flag on it wins!"
Lucky for me, I had bought stamps the day before. The cheap generic kind with the American Flag on it. And had them. In. My. Wallet!
So, I definately won Jackie and I backstage passes!!
It was so amazing.
"Dinner" was actually them feeding us sandwichs while we were waiting for the band.
"The Acoustic Performance" was one song, but freakin amazing cuz there was only about 12 people there, and I was sitting literally 2 feet away from them.

Then we got to get autographs and get pictures:
Us with Tyson:

With Chris:

With Nick:

And with Mike:

Needless to say, I was in heaven. This was the third time meeting them! And Tyson told me he remembered me from when I almost broke my nose the last time cuz it was on his birthday!
The concert was AMAZING. We didn't get down in the pit cuz we didn't feel like getting stomped and we had just had a private performance so who cares, right? We were up about 15 rows or so and had a great view of the show. It was so awesome!!!! What a great way to end the semester!
COME BACK TO VA, GUYS!!! YOU ROCK MY WORLD!!
XOXO,
Jessica
